“Cross-Cultural Networking/Communications”

  • March 29, 2012
  • 18:00 - 20:45
  • Rockville
Dear ASQ509 Biomed/Biotech SIG Event Participants and Friends,

Please find for your reference the attached flyer for our 3/29/12 evening event (Thursday second to the next) at Rockville with its theme on “Power Networking through Effective Communications” which will be presented by Ms. Dottie Li, Managing Director,
TransPacific Communications.

“How to improve your ability to communicate effectively across cultural barriers and understand cultural differences?"

The strategy: Learn to interpret cultural
differences, behaviors, and languages to minimize conflicts.  Build collaboration in today’s team-oriented, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic settings through enhanced communications techniques and networking skills.

The goal:  Eliminate day-to-day cultural and communication barriers between you and your staff/teams.

This training workshop helps you learn communications techniques; layered with understanding and respect for the diverse cultures we come into contact with every day.  This is designed for those who interact with individuals from other cultures as well as those who wish to communicate more effectively.  In 2012, simply knowing how to shake hands is not enough.  In fact, research shows 75% of people do not know how to shake hands properly.  Are you in the 25% or the 75%?

Learn to be more successful in professional settings and personal life.  Some of America’s top scientists, researchers, and doctors are not native-born, and many more immigrants are taking on roles as executives, managers, and highly skilled technical professionals.  But many of our most talented foreign-born professionals struggle to overcome cultural and communication barriers which hinder their goal achievement.  That is one reason we see relatively few non-native professionals in top management roles.   How do we change that?  During this training workshop, Dottie Li of TransPacific Communications (herself a non-native professional) will enhance your understanding of cross-cultural interactions and improve your ability to practically implement such knowledge.”

There will be a $5 cost to non-ASQ members to cover pizza and drink; it will be free to all ASQ members, veterans, students, interns, residents, postdocs, FDA Commissioner’s
Fellows, and current job seekers.  Online registration address and driving
direction to our venue is on the attached flyer. Hope to see you there, if interested
and available. Thanks.

Sincerely,
