Dr. Cailine (Kay) Kim serves as a Case Manager at the Vocational Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) Section in the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) providing and coordinating a wide range of rehabilitation therapy, counseling, and case management services to all eligible inpatient and outpatient veterans for last 10 years. She also serves as a chair of Employee Engagement Committee (EEC), co-chair of Diversity and Inclusion Counsel D&I), and Asian American Pacific Islander Special Emphasis Program Manager (AAPI SEPM) in VALBHS to increase awareness of diverse work environment and achieve and sustain an inclusive workplace. She also serves as a liaison to develop collaborative relationship with Federal, State, local government agencies, various veterans’ organizations, schools, and local community organizations for veterans to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship.

For last 18 years, she has been working with various Federal and California State agencies as a public servant; a Benefits Advisor at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at the CA State Department of Rehabilitation, a Disability Evaluation Analyst at the CA State Department of Social Services (CDSS), and an Employment Program Representative at the Employment Development Department (EDD).

She has her Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology graduated in October 2015. Her dissertation topic was ‘The Quality of Life as Veterans Transition from Active Duty to Civilians.’ She holds a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with Career Counseling certification graduated from Cal State Los Angeles. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), and an active member of American Psychology Association (APA), California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CALPCC), The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), Pi Lambda Theta (PLT), and Phi Delta Kappa International (PDK) (International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education). She is Fluent in Korean.

Currently she teaches counseling and psychology graduate courses as an adjunct professor at the California State University Los Angeles
