Public Short Bio
Dr. Barbara Jackson is the Acting CIO for NASA HQ and Goddard Space Flight Center. Prior to NASA, she served as the Chief, IT Strategy, Policy & Governance at the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).
During her civilian and military career, Dr. Jackson was assigned to the Secretary of Defense Communications Office where she served as the Assessment and Authorization Program Manager for the Secretary of Defense. During her tenure, she provided oversight for the systems security and cyber workforce training programs.
Prior to entering Federal Government service, Barbara held a variety of positions while serving as a Signal Officer in the United States Army. Her previous engagements include: Signal Communications Advisor to the 5/52 Air Defense Artillery Battalion – 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade; Joint Communications Planner – Joint Task Force, Southwest Asia; and Chief Information Security Advisor to the Commanding General – District of Columbia Army National Guard.
She is a Distinguished Military Graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She is also a graduate of the National Defense University where she completed the Chief Information Security Officer Certification Program. Dr. Jackson earned a Master of Science degree in Global Strategic Leadership, with a concentration in Cybersecurity, from the National Defense University. She is an award recipient of the Department of Defense Cyber Security Scholarship and completed her Doctor of Science degree in Cybersecurity from Capitol Technology University. She is also a certified Performance and Leadership Coach through the Defense Intelligence Agency and the International Coaching Federation.
She has served as the National Webmaster and DoD Auditor for FAPAC.
