Stewart Kaplan, a TSP Training and Liaison Specialist, will be presenting the following topics:

  • Five Core Investment Options Thrift Savings Plan has a selection of individual funds that offer broad market diversification. You can choose to have your retirement dollars invested in everything from a short-term U.S. Treasury security to index funds made of domestic and international stocks.

Stewart Kaplan retired from the Air Force in 2003 and holds a Masters of International Management from Whitworth University and a Certificate in Financial Planning from Kaplan University.

He held positions in the Marine Corps and the Air Force at the Pentagon as a Personal Financial Readiness Manager and Educator. He joined the staff of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board in April 2013. As a member of the Office of Communications and Education staff, he conducts participant seminars as well as in-depth classes for Human Resources and Payroll Offices for Federal agencies throughout the United States. He also worked in the Office of Investments on a variety of special projects including the changes to the TSP’s Lifecycle Funds.

Since 2016, he has been an integral part of a multi-agency partnership conducting Retirement Education workshops for thousands of Federal employees across the country through the regional Federal Executive Boards. This partnership was the recipient of the prestigious 2020 Eddy Award for Pre-Retirement Education Excellence. Stewart created the TSP’s “To Retirement and Beyond” retirement income presentation which was also the recipient the 2022 Eddy Award for Pre-Retirement Preparation.

Stewart is an Accredited Financial Counselor and a Registered Financial Consultant. He also holds the designations of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans of Wharton Business School and Retirement Income Certified Professional through the American College of Financial Services.
