This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door of the USFS.   Completion of a bachelor’s degree & minimum of 2.0 GPA is a requirement for program acceptance.

When internship requirements are completed, interns will earn the Public Land Corps Hiring Authority making them eligible to apply to merit vacancy announcements for two years.  



The Student Conservation Association & USDA Forest Service Southern Region are partnering to offer 15 fire and recreation intern positions across the Southeast. Duty locations include:

  • ·         Daniel Boone National Forest:  
  • o   Stearns Ranger District (Whitley City, KY) 2 Positions
  • o   Cumberland Ranger District (Morehead, KY) 1 Position
  • ·         National Forests and Grasslands in Texas: 
  • o   Angelina Sabine Ranger Districts (Zavalla, TX) 1 Position
  • o   Caddo/LBJ National Grasslands (Decatur, TX) 1 Position
  • ·         George Washington and Jefferson National Forests: 
  • o   Glenwood Pedlar Ranger District (Natural Bridge, Station, VA) 2 Positions
  • o   Warm Springs Ranger District (Hot Springs, VA) 1 Position
  • ·         National Forests in North Carolina: Grandfather Ranger District (Nebo, NC) 2 Positions
  • ·         Cherokee National Forest (Greeneville, TN) 2 Positions
  • ·         Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests: 
  • o   Andrew Pickens Ranger District (Mountain Rest, SC) 1 Position
  • o   Enoree Ranger District (Whitmire, SC) 2 Positions
