The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Bacterial Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance Research Unit located in Athens, GA, is seeking a full time, permanent, Research Molecular Biologist/Research Microbiologist at the GS12 level.

 

The mission of our Unit is to reduce the transmission of foodborne pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in poultry production environments. The incumbent’s research program will focus on applied research using sophisticated molecular microbiological methods to identify molecular mechanisms and environmental factors that contribute to the persistence and spread of antibiotic resistance through poultry production environments

 

Specialized experience requirements for this position are:  1. Applying quantitive molecular methods and genomics tools to study microbial populations; 
2. Conducting field or farm research on foodborne pathogens or antimicrobial resistance; and
3. Publishing and presenting scientific research results
