The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Government and Finance Division (G&F) is seeking an Analyst in Economic Development Policy to serve the United States Congress by providing expertise on policy issues pertinent to planning, economic development, public finance, business development, and job creation. Work may include design and evaluation of options for Congress to inform the debate on economic development policy and related issues.
The ideal candidate will have experience conducting applied analysis that blends a background in planning with detailed knowledge of economic development principles and public finance at all levels of government. State and/or local planning experience and expertise connecting this experience to federal policy and programs is preferred. Specifically, the successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to link knowledge of these principles, policies, and programs with each step of the legislative process. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to draw from a multidisciplinary background to provide rigorous policy analysis for some of the most complex issues for Congress. Strong policy research, writing, and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Experience communicating analytic results through data visualization is preferred. Candidates with experience explaining complex policies, programs, and economic principles in terms that resonate with audiences without their level of expertise are encouraged to apply.
