Transportation Specialist - Office of Operations - FHWA/DOT

FHWA is looking for a Transportation Specialist that will work in the Office of Operations, which is committed to advancing mobility and safety while addressing congestion challenges. The selected individual will work directly on the implementation of the advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment (ATCMTD) initiative (FAST Act section 6004). He or she will provide expertise and leadership in the solicitation and selection of grant awards, program administration, and in management and implementation of grant activities with recipients.


The position requires general knowledge of the Federal Aid Highway Program; strong analytic skills; intergovernmental collaboration experience; general knowledge of FHWA programs, policies, and regulations; and presentation, publication and writing skills; and a strong foundation in project and program delivery with state departments of transportation (State DOT), metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), local governments, and academic institutions.  The incumbent will be actively engaging with the FHWA Headquarters units and Division Offices in those States that have recipients of advanced transportation and congestion management technologies deployment grants, and with senior leadership.
