    The Resources, Science and Industry Division of the Congressional Research Service is seeking an Analyst in Energy Policy. The analyst will cover energy policy, focusing on oil and gas markets. This includes knowledge of the history, trends, and current status of energy policy and economics and interrelationships with other key subject areas including fossil fuel supply, refining, and markets.     DUTIES

    Working with both legislative information and congressional client information, the selectee will: track measures through the legislative process from introduction, floor proceedings in both chambers, multiple amendment processes, committee and subcommittee actions, and approval or veto by the President; evaluate legislative actions and documents; contribute to the processes of subject term assignment; and maintain quality control over legislative metadata and authority records to ensure accuracy, timeliness, availability, and reliability. The Legislative Information Specialist will perform this work in a digital online environment.

     

    This candidate should have solid computer skills, including skills needed to work with databases, spreadsheets, and web applications in a network environment. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in or graduating from a Master’s program in Library and Information Science and have coursework or experience in legal research and/or political science.     DUTIES

    The Congressional Research Service (CRS), Domestic Social Policy Division (DSP), seeks an Analyst in Health Policy to join its Health Services and Research Section. The applicant should have some knowledge of key health policy issues, including issues related to health information technology (e.g., digital health, health informatics, and/or health care cybersecurity) along with the organization delivery, and financing of health services.  The applicant should be able to demonstrate their proficiency through relevant coursework or experience. Applicants earning an advanced degree in health policy, including issues related to health information technology, digital health, health informatics, and/or health care cybersecurity, are especially encouraged to apply.

     

    The Analyst in Health Policy provides objective public policy analysis and consultation to congressional committees, Members of Congress, and their staff, including preparing objective, non-partisan, analytical studies and descriptive and background reports on public policy issues of national significance; providing personal consultation and assistance to congressional committees, Members of Congress, and their staff on public policy issues throughout the legislative process; and participating in multi-disciplinary team research projects and seminars. The Analyst in Health Policy is also expected to develop over time the skills necessary to provide legislative analysis and consultation to congressional committees, Members of Congress, and their staff at increasingly sophisticated levels.

     

    Strong writing, research, and presentation skills are essential, including the ability to synthesize complex analyses into easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience.
