    The Pacific Southwest Region’s Fire and Aviation Management staff is currently in the process of outreach to assess interest in a permanent, full-time GS-2181-13 Supervisory Airplane Pilot position located in Redding, CA.     This position is established in the Pacific Southwest Region, Fire and Aviation Management Staff, Regional Aviation Group. The incumbent provides the primary oversight and supervision for Regional Forest Service fixed-wing pilots and fixed-wing aircraft operations. Operations include—but may not be limited to—wildland fire, administrative and project-specific flights occurring under the operational control of the Region or Forests. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Regional Aviation Officer and will provide leadership and management to Fixed-Wing pilot operations as a subject matter expert in Regional fixed-wing pilot operations in the Region. Ninety (90) days of experience as a primary/rigorous firefighter or equivalent experience outside federal employment is a basic qualification requirement for this position.
